Policy Advocacy Objectives

Riding Groups | Advocacy Training
  • To ensure that the Canadian Government:
    1. Supports international law in the Middle East.
    2. Holds equal expectations of all parties in Middle East conflict.
    3. Rejects violence as a solution to Middle East issues.
  • To develop and execute on strategies to positively influence Federal MPs, Senators, and Government policy makers.
  • To obtain concrete, actionable results from the Canadian Government.
The taskforce places a strong emphasis on empowering justice-minded Canadians to advocate to policy-makers, through our advocacy training.

We have specific, and evolving methods to communicate our policy positions to Canadian policy-makers:
  • Policy delegations to Ottawa – CJPME delegates spend a day in Ottawa presenting CJPME policy positions to Federal policy-makers.
  • Cross-Canada policy mailings – Mailings are periodically sent to all 400+ lawmakers (MPs & Senators), with telephone follow-up.
  • “Riding Groups” for local meetings with MPs – To encourage pro-justice Canadians to further advocacy efforts locally, and year-round. Read more here.
  • Letter-writing campaigns – Various forms of CJPME letter-writing campaigns enable pro-justice Canadians to articulate their concerns to policy-makers.
  • Meetings with government instruments – Beyond elected policy-makers, other layers of the Canadian government shape policy importantly. CJPME seeks out meaningful forums for policy dialog with government representatives.

Justice-minded Canadians need to speak out, and be heard via the mechanisms available in our Canadian democracy. The Policy Advocacy Task Force of CJPME provides the framework, training and tools to better enable such Canadians to find their voice.
