Humanitarian (Sowers of Hope) Objective
The CJPME team has its roots in humanitarian work, having come together in 2002 in a humanitarian project to provide emergency surgical services to a rural area east of Hebron, Palestine. By raising $250,000 over two years for Palestinians in need, CJPME has shown that its commitment to helping Palestinians extends beyond words, to include deeds as well. CJPMEs humanitarian work is performed in the name of Sowers of Hope, as this is a branding that was initially created through the teams humanitarian work. The Sowers of Hope Website provides details and background on the humanitarian work performed to date. The Humanitarian Aid task force is focused on providing concrete assistance to impoverished and despairing communities in Palestine. This task force is constantly on the lookout for credible Canadian and Palestinian partners who can help define and implement projects on the ground in Palestine. Month to month, the team is working on some of the following items:
- The publishing of a Sowers of Hope newsletter twice a year.
- The researching of potential projects.
- The management of a small campaign (about $10,000) during the 2005/2006 year.
- The funding of the 2005/2006 project through three social events throughout the year.
- The researching and planning for a major humanitarian campaign in 2006/2007.
